      Exclamation Just can't get lucid.

I've probably posted a dozen topics like this in the past but I just can't do it.

So please, assume I know NOTHING (except for terminology) and I have NEVER had an LD.

Even though I have had LD's they were by NO means "vivid" very hazy and loose control..

Could someone please oh please "adopt" me? I've tried it myself but I need someone else to coach me. Please help?

Another site with a great starting guide to lucidity is Lucidipedia. It contains very detailed information on how to do everything (using the WBTB technique as a basis for beginners), including lots of tips on how to stabilize and make the most out of your dreams, plus exercises you can do when you're awake, etc. It's quite a lot to read on there, plus a good amount of YouTube videos. I'm nearly done reading everything from the "Learning" section now, and I feel like I know a lot more now than when I just browsed random short articles and guides (although, ofc, I'm too new to tell if it's working yet). It only took me a few days to have the first, short but vivid, LD.

Also, if you are getting frustrated it can be easy to start beating yourself up over it. Try to never think "how did I miss that dream sign? I'm useless", or "why am I so bad at [stabilizing, flying, whatever", but rather how you are actually good enough, and that you will do it better the next time you have a chance

A quick tip to stabilize and make the dream more vivid when you're already LDing is to rub your hands together for a few seconds. Everything should start to clear up.

Yeah definitely try the WBTB technique. Had my first LD last night using it and it was the first time I used it...I also did a bit of MILDing as I was falling back to sleep, I repeted...I am dreaming over and over again as I passed from awake to asleep, also did about 8-10 Reality Checks for the hour I was awake, I look at my hands for my RC's.
      Worked for me...can't hurt haha

Don't give up! I'm sure there's some way for you too to get lucid! Have you tried reading through any more thorough guides than just the tutorials you find here (nothing wrong about them, but they're usually not that in-depth)? Also, maybe if you try visualization or WILD instead of relying on dream signs, as they seem a bit more trainable, where DILD can be very hit-and-miss. Not to say they are easier though, not at all...

I can't believe it.. The day after I consider giving up.. I successfully WILD... Read my dream here...

"This night I only had 3 hours of sleep, so my mother allowed me to stay home. When I got up I decided to sleep on the couch instead of my bed.. After a good long while... I finally decided to go back to sleep..

I lay down and suddenly I get that Sleep paralysis rush... Lucid attempting time I think.... So I open my "dream eyes" and I see a couch... But not ours... It's the loveseat.. I KNOW I'm not sleeping on the loveseat right now

It's very hazy and I have trouble keeping my dream eyes opened... I have A LOT of trouble moving my dream limbs.. It fades away...

-After I wake up again I instantly close my eyes and enter SP again.. The exact same thing happens to me.. Eventually I find myself somewhere... I have trouble remembering exactly where.. I do an RC (Finger through palm) but it doesn't work.. I do other things like try to Jump super high and fly but that doesn't work either.. I remembered "Spend your first few lucids getting used to the dream world.." But I had know idea what to do... How do I increase vividness?"

-try looking at your hands, then rubbing them together
-also saying out loud "increase vividness / clarity / stability" can often help

dont give up. i am in a dry spell as well, i have been practicing since april with about a 12 year gap since i was last into LDing, and it has been a month and a half since my last LD.

I've had 7 so far but I'm not giving up, my problem is school. I started LDing over the summer but now I've gotta do homework and stuff so it makes me do less reality checks. But I'm not giving up. I'm doing a lot more now and I've found out that I can do reality checks and nobody cares. Sure some people will ask me once and a while what "Lucid Dreaming" is and I just tell them that it's where you know that your in a dream and you could do what ever you want. I've never had a coach, I've always found tutorials and used them. But a good way to have more lucid dreams is to be more aware in real life. If your more aware in real life then you'll be more aware in your dreams. Go to this link to learn how, I hope this helps.
