Am I getting close and doing something wrong?

This morning I woke up early and had to go out for a job. Since it was a short one, and I was still tired, I thought it might be a good time to play around with a few lucid dreaming techniques, so here's what happened:

I do a bit of meditation, then lie down and try some WILD. Well, I can never do this, and I fall asleep. But, and this happens every time, I wake up about 10-20 minutes later, realise I failed, think, "Nuts to this, I'll just sleep", roll over, and go back to sleep.

That's not the end of it though.

Sometime later, probably not long, after falling asleep I think, I am awareness experiencing the fabled vibrations and ringing. It's really intense and always feels like I am about to shake apart and I think I do this thing where I feel like I'm trying to force it out so I can survive it.

Next thing, after that is over, it seems like a few minutes later, I am in a dream. It's not lucid at all, I don't think.

Later on in the dream (in today's example) there was this lady that was hitting on me, and to start with I was saying, "I can't do this I have a girlfriend and she has a husband." Then I was saying (but I didn't have control over this, it was like part of the dream), "Wait a minute, I've been in this house, and these aren't the people that live here, so I must be dreaming, so it's okay if this happens..."

Then there was some wild sex! Okay, but the thing is I wasn't actually lucid, I had no control or awareness here, even though my dreamself had recognised that this was a dream.

So I have a few questions relating to all this (remember, the last part doesn't usually happen, it was just today where I seemingly said I was dreaming).

      1. Why do I always fall asleep for ten minutes when trying WILD, and then wake up?
      2. For those familiar with the vibrations and stuff: does one consciously pass from waking to the vibrations? Because I seem to fall asleep, and then wake up to vibrations a few minutes later.
      3. What am I supposed to do when I get these vibrations? Should I just relax and say something like, "I am about to enter a dream, I will take control of this dream." (Note, I'm not sure if I have actually awareness/control to perform actions like that when this happens.
      4. I should have become lucid when I realised I was dreaming, but I didn't. Is this just an issue with not being dedicated enough to reality checks and things like that? (I often find in waking life that I am too passive with them).

Any other thoughts, comments, suggestions or help would be much appreciated thanks.

This doesn't make sense to me. If you realized you were dreaming, then you were lucid.

      I think I understad him...

It is like dreaming that you know that you are dreaming... but not controlling. I read here about it before.

It is different when we really get lucid, when you say: "Wait a minute. This is a dream. Let me do a Reality Check: FTP (finger through palm) Ok. It is a dream, lets explere the place."

The other situation in fact we think we know we are dreming but It was a dream, not a LD.

Yeah whenever I have those "ok its a dream, time for some sirious dreamporn" dreams, its always a low level lucidity. I never have enough control to realise I'd rather be doing something other than spanking my inner child
I whish I could make it thru the noise stage of a wild. Whenever I get to that stage the sound is unbearable for me. Very loud screaming roaring and pressure, like having a 747 parked on your head.
I can only stand it for a few seconds before I just have to quit

Just a side note on the finger thru palm thing. Tried that one time and the back of my hand just stretched way out like it was made of super soft rubber or something - freaky cool
I've been so lazy - someone kick me.

That's what I'm questioning here, though. I'm not so sure that I realised I was dreaming, rather than, like ZappPSR said, dreaming that I knew I was dreaming. The dream, before and after that moment, was no different from any of my normal dreams.

This is what I'm inclined to think.

Thanks, I'm not positive congrats are in order yet, though. Either way, even if it was successful, it was more of a fluke than anything else, but progress is progress.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy. I'm not so sure it's a good method for me, I generally (in the few instances I've experienced) just try to pull out of the entire situation.

If I *had* been in control of the dream, I too think there'd be things I'd rather be doing than sex. Sex I've had before plenty of times, but there's just sooooooo much about lucid dreams that I want to explore!

I think that to be lucid has two requirements: You should know that you are dreaming, and you should be consciously making decisions. To me, the latter one is actually the more important.

I have had forgettable dreams where I knew that I was dreaming, but had no consciusness. To be conscious is quite different than attaining memories. It is hard to explain this, and I did not understand this at all until I learned meditation.

On the other hand, my conscious dreams are about as remarkable as my lucid dreams (although I expect that this will change as my skills improve!). For example, once I saw manta rays flying around in the sky and I was in the same state of consciousness as lucid dreaming, except I thought that I was hallucinating! I had a real thought process, rather than just having ideas popping into my head for no apparent reason, and I was even testing my vision by looking out of the corners of my eyes. I noticed that if I would clear my head the manta rays would slip out of vision and this proved to me that I was going insane. I became very worried!

However, most lucid dreams are some mix a different levels of understanding and control anyway, and if you know you are dreaming then you are probably making good progress!
