Tell Me About Getting Better Computer Graphics?

So I have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 and I've always heard computer game's are suppose to look better than game console systems. However, everysingle game I've downloaded looks boringly less than game console systems? Why is that? Also, I'm not a Hard-Core gamer, as I just got into the computer game experience, so is my computer capable of playing good games? My Specs: 4Gigs of Ram 500GB HD Windows 7 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 12 Cell Battery and is this my computer graphics card info?? Any help is appreciated! *Edit* Actually it's a Laptop
