Tell me about Night Clubs

Well, i've never actually been to a night club before... I've only ever been to pubs with my mates because there isn't much of a club scene near where i live and to be honest i've never really thought about going to one. But now i'm at uni i've got the opportunity to go to quite a few. I'd probably be right in presuming that the atmosphere is much different, but i feel really uneducated and this is something new to me, don't want to make a tit of myself whilst at any. I'm on my own pretty much and i don't know anyone at the moment since i only moved into my accommodation yesterday. I intend to go to this club tonight where there's some bands playing, but i'm a little nervous. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated whether it be about what night clubs are about or about meeting new people, i'm a bit shy but i'm willing to put myself out there, just don't want to look silly in the process! Thanks Edit - Also, is it weird to go to night clubs alone? (yeah i'm a loner for tonight at least)
