      Tell Me How to Stop a Habit.

      I cannot for the life of me stop biting my fingernails!!!

      I hate it! I just can't stop. Even when I know I'm doing it...I still just can't make myself stop.


      Any tips please?

      Stopping a bad habit on a dime is pretty rare, I recommend going about replacing it with a good one instead.

      I had a friend who stopped that by putting fingernail polish (the clear kind) on her nails. If that doesn't bother you then it may work.

      I, too, have a habit of chewing my nails. I like it though, because it's my way of cutting them. They don't look bad or anything. I would try something like chewing gum, or like Catbus said, putting clear nail polish on might help.

      I agree, biting my nails has kept me from having to clip them for the past 8 years. (and they're chewy too!)



      I'm not helping a whole lot am I.

      You should ask someone about it in pharmacy or somewhere.
      Well what I'm telling about here is some liquid that you put on your nails so every time you try to bite them it tastes awful. Hopefully you'll eventually stop.

      Change your thinking and set your intent. Any habit you have you can overcome by changing your thinking. Most people don't know this because they aren't aware of their thoughts.

      Next time your about to bite your nails, tell yourself over and over you will not to bite them, visualize yourself about to bite your nails but you stop. It makes an impression on your subconscious. You probably won't catch yourself before you start to bite your nails, and that's because it's automatic to you. It's in the subconscious. You reprogram your subconscious through visualization and affirmation.

      Okay, I was good since the day after the OP, have been putting shitty-tasting shit on my fingernails, and it's been working, but I totally screwed up yesterday. I was nervous and didn't even notice...

      But I stopped again and made sure to have the shit on my hands.
