I put the headphones back on and the firing continued, like it was coming from an old pirate ship off the coast. I had also handed the headphones to this friend of mine, but they attested to hearing nothing but the static. I put them on again, and the firing commenced. It was altogether a strange experience, and I tried it a few nights afterwards as well, with the same results. The only feeling I ever got that was different from an audible hallucination was the feeling of rotating in space (I was lying on my back at the time) and being stretched. It wasn't unpleasant, just foreign to me.
It's been months now since then, and only one other friend I have out of the 4 that have tried it claim that it has worked for them. I don't know if I can recommend any "good" sounding ones, as they all sound like wobbly variations in static humming to me. A good pair of headphones is recommended though, as it wont work if both ears are picking up the left and right tones from the speakers.
That's interesting.. In my case I didn't get a cannon firing --I got gregorian chanting lol. It was a high note, and increased in volume.. reminds me of something I'd hear during the climax of a horror film along the likes of Omen or Exorcist, something with religion.
When I laid back down, I heard footsteps on metal maybe 7ft up in the air. By then I was wide awake with eyes open. I've read that people experience shocking things when their body goes through sleep paralysis. Seeing a man pointing a gun at them, a giant shadow, etc.
