Just in case I'm ever being grilled in a police station and the cops are being pricks I can stand up, knocking my chair over, point harshly at the ground and say, "I know my rights you son of a bitch!"
Then either they will back off and get me a cup of coffee or two of them will grab me and ram my head into a wall which will cause an anurism 4 days later as has been known to happen.
No, but seriously, what are the rules in that situation?
More importantly, will the cops follow said ruled?
Maybe not, but it leads to a poor dramatic scenario when I say "I know my rights," forcefully but I actually do no know them.

Only experience gained from watching cop shows and those sob stories of people who were coerced into admitting to crimes that they didn't do.
Besides, if I said "I know my rights!" and the cop said "Really?" and I said "No, not really." I would look stupid...
Even if the cops aren't being pricks, if you're being interrogated it's generally in your best interests not to cooperate.

well i think that you can do that as long as the cop does not feel threatened or in danger, so basically... no. lol.
but you should get arrested and do it, and let me video tape it so that i can laugh my butt of!!!!! lol

Just to be clear, no matter what your legal rights are, when it's you and the cops the cops are the ones with the power. Unless you're Jason Bourne, of course.
It should go without saying that if you say anything to the police, you should say it politely. They're not above tasing you for being a dick.
Yes, but my OP clearly stated that I would only do it if the cops where being bastards, in which case they tazed me I could throw myself into a wall headfirst and sue like crazy.
