Smile Tell me about lasik eye surgery

Has anyone had this surgery to correct your vision or know someone who has?

If so, are they happy with the results and would they do it again?

I know a few people who have. So I IMed them and got their testimonials.

      "Go away dude you're creepy."

"It's 'laser eye surgery' not 'lasik' "

      "ur a fucking dumbass."

I'm curious about this myself so I will stay tuned to this thread.

About five years ago, I was listening to a radio show while driving in my car, and they said that the surgery would produce excellent results... and then your vision would take a permanent plunge for the worse in a decade or so. I don't know if this was ever true, or whether they've made significant improvements since then (I'm sure they have, in any case)... but be very careful if you're considering this. The eye is too important to be hasty about any of it!

I have heard and read nothing but good things about this procedure.
Two of my friends and my uncle has had this done. It was bing bang boom and your done.

I think for a few days afterwards you have to ..do something. I forget.

      Edit: glasses are sexy. 2¢

I've heard that also. I hear that some people have lost their vision in a few years after having it done. I'm not sure if that's still true, or if that only happens in a rare case. Though, this is something I've been considering also ( once I have the money) But I have eye contacts now, and they're fine. It would be better to not have to worry about that at all. I rather have to wear glasses or contacts forever then loosing my vision in a few years.

I would only say research your ass off before you get it done.

I have both glasses and contacts and I too would rather wear them forever before losing my vision at any time!

I have the money and am considering this as a early birthday present for myself.

My husband and son think I should have it done.. and I really want to because my contacts bother me as my eyes get dry and yet when I wear my glasses by the end of the day I have problems seeing with them up close (after being on the computer all day).

I am really torn. I have researched and read both glowing and harrowing reports on the procedure. It's so scary because if you make a wrong decision.. you're pretty much screwed.

I know the government doesn't have faith in it, because they don't let you fly a plane if you've had it.

ugh.. I know I have the same problems my contacts get so dry I can only think of my eyes when it happens. And sometimes when they are near their end of using I get sensitve to light for some reason.

Have you gone for a consultation?

I would say see what he/she recommends and the risk if you haven't already.
Again I would say research it and make sure.. Though, the results I hear are amazing. I'm jealous already because you are able to have it done

      Good luck!
