Since we have so many male members I thought I'd ask.. does it mean more to you to have someone say "I'm proud of you" or to have someone say "I love you"? |

For someone to say that they are proud of me.
For someone to say that they love me.

I'd say it would mean more if i was told i was loved. I think alot of men prefer to say that they would like people to be proud of them because males in general are more competative and prefer to earn that sort of high status, if someone says they are proud of you then i would expect a man would assume he has achieved something, i find that like you said, the word love is tossed around alot but i think you can tell if someone means it or not. I hope all that made some sort of sense. |

I'd personally prefer people to tell me that they are proud of me, because then I'd have more of a sense of acheivement and accomplishment (as Lucid Seeker said). |

I just think that achievement is more of a status related thing whilst love is more of a caring emotion which makes me feel good knowing that someone feels that way about me. |

I've never been in a serious relationship where a girl had been in love with me (I'm only 16:p) so I can't really say how much I'd appreciate being loved in that way. But if a member of my family was to say that they love me it'd probably mean very little as it's really a given. I'd expect members of my family to love me because that's what they do. It doesn't mean that they like me, they just get attached to me in that way because they've been stuck with me for 16 years. If anything It'd mean far more to me if someone told me that they liked me as a person. |
