Thread: Woman, I demand you tell me a bit about washing clothes

I need to shrink something so I'm thinking about washing it in hot water and then throwing it in the dryer but I'm worried about the color fading. I'd prefer a woman's help because women are much smarter than men. Also, do I win any points for reverse-sexism?

Unfortunately I know nothing about washing clothes. I just put all of mine in together, even when it says hand-wash only.

I think a lot of it depends on the fabric of the article of clothing. If it's cotton or wool, then I'm pretty sure your plan to use hot water and a dryer will work. Not sure about other fabrics, through.

As for keeping the color from fading: If all you want to do is shrink it, then you don't really need to use detergent or any chemicals when you wash it. Just toss it in, set it on the smallest wash load and let it go. Whenever I have a new piece of clothing that I'm worried might bleed onto my other laundry, I add some vinegar to the wash load. It's something my aunt taught me, and it works. You might want to use dryer sheets when you dry it, though. The smell of vinegar has never stayed on my clothes, but it's always good to just be safe.

GavinGill probably doesn't have the shirt anymore.

I wasn't able to work up the balls to throw it in the dryer since it was two layers and Google said only the outside layer would shrink, so I just took it to mall to have it tailored. I actually just picked it up earlier today. I'll try the vinegar thing though but if it doesn't work, I'm going to hold it against you forever and ever, lemonade. Figuratively speaking of course; you'd probably get annoyed if I held the shirt up against you for that long.

My annoyance would depend on what the shirt looked like. Is it a cool shirt? Would it look good with my complexion?
