After watching Robin Hood, and Beouwuf, I want some. Tell me what kind you had, and how did it taste. What else would you compare it too? Is it as good as it sounds etc etc etc.

If you don't like any really sweet drinks, like horchatas and stuff, you may not like it. It is honey wine, so you can expect the sickly sweet taste of honey. Alot of people make it at home and I have heard making your own from recipes is not very hard. I am not much of an alochol guy in that I haven't tried everything. But I have heard of people who love mead and then there are those that hate it.
It's nice enough so long as you don't over-do it.
And that's not an alcohol warning, that's a sweetness warning. Gets too sickly after awhile. Most mead I've had was more beer or ale like, but that's only because it was of the hops variety. I've never had a mead that's more in the wine area of things, so I can't comment.
Go out and find some. It's easily findable if you go beyond off-licenses that only stock big brand names.
If you want to drink in an old school manner with something that is less of a sickly treat just stick to real ales. Or stouts that aren't Guiness. IPA it up.
I had some at the Renaissance Festival...it was too sweet.
I was curious about mead too, but it doesn't sound like my kind of drink. Can't stand sweet booze (except port and ice wine)...
I've had it at a music festival once which was surprising. It was alright, but I could immediately tell I couldn't drink more than a glass before being sick of it. Then again I can't really consistently drink a lot of harder drinks because of genetics (fucking asia). It's certainly worth trying.
