I have during the last year taken my first baby-steps in the world of composing. I mostly do jazz and modal jazz for big-band or smaller ensembles, but occationally i dip into the more classical-ish orchestral music.
First up: Take Four
This is a modal jazz/pop-ish piece for big-band. I named it "Take Four" because the idea for the piece came to me when i misplaced the two first chords of "Take Five". Only composition of mine ever performed on a concert. This is played by a youth-big-band, so please, criticize the composition, not the execution. Also, the solo is not written or played by me.
Second one is a work in progress ocherstral piece.
The reason im posting this is because i am terribly bad at judging my own music, and i have problems figuring out which parts are good, and which is bad. Also, its not the whole piece. This is part of a re-write of another piece i made, but wasn't entirely satisfied with. About the sound, it's just the samples from my music-notation software exported to an mp3, so bear with me. Any ideas for a title would be appreciated
C&C welcome
(For those who dont know what modal jazz is... its jazz played in one of the different musical modes. Like the Dorian mode)
