Thread: Weakamon's Drawings

Here's an update on my current drawing. Normally I'd be rushing the colors of my drawings, but this time, I'm taking my time coloring it. I have a feeling this one's gonna be a breakthrough compared to my other works.

Hopefully I'd be able to finish this tomorrow or the day after it. All I need to do now is add the background and tweak some of the existing colors to improve the overall color harmony.

Forgot to update this thread. I was unable to come up with a background so I just added some background lighting.

Here's a work in progress. I hope to finish this before the new year starts. Knowing how slow I am when it comes to drawing, I doubt I'll be able to finish it but still, I'll try my best. It's supposed to be Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill.

Thanks . Yeah I'm kind of into drawing in anime/manga style. But recently, I've been trying to incorporate some realism into my drawings.

You're really good. I'm a long time fan of NGE though, so I'm gonna be kinda harsh on your Asuka drawing. I feel like The bangs ought to be a bit more pronounced/larger and the face more angular. Something about the facial structure seems a bit off. Nothing is wrong with your drawing ability or skill, but the resemblance is just not quite there. Your Rei in your avatar is pretty close to Rei though, I like it. Overall you've got a really great style though, nice job!

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to meet another Eva fan here in dv. Yeah, I myself thought of the same thing when I finished it. It lacks the fiery/active/aggressive atmosphere Asuka's known to have. Also, I didn't draw my avatar, I just found it in zerochan .

Thanks for the support! Glad you like it. I just checked yours and hot muffins! I really like your matte drawings paintings. That's something I've been trying to get into but alas, I have no idea where to start, or rather, I'm too scared to step out of my comfort zone. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Well the best place to start would be to watch the FZD design cinema videos through.
Probably the single biggest source of information on this kind of art out there.
He (Feng, the guy who does the videos) also talks about what fundamental skills
need to be learned and the best way to go about it, i.e. perspective, lighting, color theory,
values, etc. It's what got me started into concept art back in 2013

Thanks for the playlist, will check it out. Hmmm on your question , I'm treating it as a hobby, sort of. But to be honest, I've always wanted to publish a comic(manga to be more specific) ever since I can remember. But I try to hide it since it's highly frowned upon by the online community. It's always pointed out that one cannot simply say that he's interested in making a manga and therefore make one on the get go. It's considered as an insult to the pros out there and the effort required to make one. And somehow I agree with them. Until I achieve the necessary skills and level of mastery I'm looking for, I'll refrain from freely sharing my desire to make a career out of it and lean on my college education(for the time being).

I'm quite satisfied with how this came out.

I really like this thread! You have an interesting style that I really like, a sort of 'realistic anime' (smaller eyes and more accurate proportions, but by no means realism.) Keep up the good work.

Thanks. I'm still adjusting my style but I'm glad you like it. My understanding of proportions needs more improvement hence my recent anatomy drawing.
