      favourite poet

please note that 'poet' is not plural. i don't want people spewing out every poet they've ever heard about in an attempt to seemed cultured. if you can't force yourself to pick just one then... well... it sucks to be you.

so yes, your favourite poet, and maybe a poem if you can dig it up.

alexander pope, a surgeon of words if i've ever seen one.
i'll eat your heart, because it is bitter, and because it is your heart.

John Keats. (subject to change, of course, as I read more)

His poems always seem like thinly veiled references to dreaming, especially "Ode to a Nightingale." Its last stanza gives me the same feeling as when I die in dreams...

Hard to choose between John Donne and Paul Simon. I love them both for their metaphysical works, and since the former influenced the latter then I guess I'd have to say John Donne.

(there, I did my best to avoid the "spewing" .)

Yeah, I was just thinking of that one. You don't think I'd pick up any girls if I memorized that one, do you?

Hrmmmmmmmm.....I dunno. Some girls might fall for it. You'd have to train a flea to bite both of you though. And if all else fails, quoting old poetry at all might be enough.
