One of the fox's friends should be a snail who is on a long, arduous journey of traveling some trivial distance. Despite his resolve, he never gets to his destination, nor even seems to make any progress since they always find him in exactly the same spot. The joke being that snails are very slow.
I like the creeper monster fellow and the gorrila/sloth/bear that also has a slightly lionish face.

Looks like a good duo. I'd have to see the background to pick though if you only want one. So I guess I'm not much help. But a tetrapod slug is an awesome idea.
Ain't no background. Just doodled him up and couldn't decide on his colouration. He'll be adventuring with the fox fella at some point so I'm thinking I'll go with the leopard slug colouration since the fox is already yellow/orange.

Not a very original design but oh my god I love him~ adorabubu~ kawaii~ etc.
gorillla/sloth/bear!!! and slugs made me so happy immediately. Im talking gasp and giggles like a kid.
And although both are handsome (as far as snails go?) but i feel compelled to say leopard slug for the win.
