Thread: Merlin's Assorted Pic-a-tures

I figured I'd make a thread in here to force myself to start drawing up some more of my dreams! I've been really wanting to turn some of these memories, images and ideas floating around in my head into something tangible I can show other people

I'm accustomed to Photoshop, and pretty much everything here is going to be done in it

Starting tonight! I've been wanting to do a basic flying image for ages, and I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out. This image actually goes all the way up to 3840x1080 but I cropped it down to fit on only one monitor

Take two! Holy shit I’m proud of this one! This is one of the memories burned into my head because it was one of my goals for so long to get to a place like this - a lake or an ocean where I can just fly around. I learned so much in this dream about how to fly properly and how freeing and incredible it really is.

I tried to give the whole picture a really ‘dreamy’ glow and feel, and used some techniques I thought of tonight which I’ve never used before, especially to get the bright glow highlights on the ocean and rocks

Wow that's awesome! I'm curious as to how you got the mosaic texture only on certain parts of the picture, quite impressive.

I wanted to fix up the silly selection mistake I did on the previous picture which made that white bar at the top - so I did a tutorial at the same time!



Oh god damn it photobucket made the picture just that TINY bit smaller and it makes the text harder to read ><'

I managed to dig up this thread! After a lucid last night where I met a mysterious purple eyed woman DC, I felt inspired to do a bit of photoshop work. The galaxy in the background is our very own Milky Way, from an amazing hi-res national geographic map available on the internet. 'We are here' is literally where our sun lies on the milky way and that blows my mind a little :p Link in 1080p

I've spent the past week build a new guitar pedal! Effects pedals are heaps of fun, but they are really expensive when buying them new from the store. I grew up with a bit of know how on soldering, and so from the beginning of getting into pedals, I have been making my own. This is my 5th custom pedal, and easily the most complicated. It's a delay, chorus and tremolo all in the one pedal, and each effect is really versatile. Part of what makes it fun is getting to put a custom touch on the case!

I etched the surface of my last pedal, eating away the metal in the design I wanted, and then painted over it and scraped away the paint. It really made it look like some kind of weird ancient relic I found in the desert, I love it.



For this one, I was going to do another etch, but couldn't get the printed transfer to stick to the case. I ended up just printing onto a sticker, and putting a light layer of clear over the top. It soaked into the sticker and turned it from white to grey, and it really blends in and looks like metal This pedal was a real challenge to get together with 8 knobs, 2 stomp switches, 2 toggle switches, 2 input jacks and 3 LEDs but I managed to get it all in!

So I've finished a couple of new pedals, and this one I am mighty proud of. I decided to finally have a crack at painting the enclosure and using a full colour graphic, and it turned out great!

The graphic I knocked up in photoshop, and got printed on high-gloss photopaper at a '15c photo print' in the middle of a huge electronics retailer. I stuck it down using a generous layer of spray adhesive, and hoping it won't peel off any time soon
