No chemistry here, just my new art thread, in which I will post new things I've been toying with

It's been a little while since I updated any of my traditional artwork, so I'll start with a few of them (I did them at work during my breaks)

I'll also share this-- the first two things I've done with my new Intuos4 tablet!

Second one is still a work in progress.

I have plenty more stuff to share but I don't want to throw it all out at once hehe.

Nice! they are all really cool, my favorite is the one is where you have drawn round the contour of the watercolour, so simple and yet a really good idea!

much more to come, I think I'm getting better now that I'm drawing basically once every break at work. And trying to experiment more... randomly I'll just ask a coworker to give me a subject and I'll draw an abstraction of it. Neat excersize for me. I don't think I'll ever be able to draw in a style that isn't abstract/surrealism though

I just don't think on realistic terms.

is there like a technique you use to make these, or do you just put your ink/pen/ pencil on the page and draw.

It's strange, I go into this sort of trance when I draw. I feel like my drawings are plants, from beginning to end it starts with one line and they literally just begin to grow, and the draw progresses in a plant growth sort of fashion. That continues until I have an "ecosystem" of shapes and figures, and I'll know when a drawing is finished when it feels like it's done. I find patterns and meanings to my drawings afterwards, generally I fall into a semi-dissociative state when I start a drawing, and I just think on a completely different level. Lines are no longer just lines, they feel like wires I'm connecting to the next line, and I need to connect the right wires together to make it work.

I dunno, drawing for me is a strange, enlightening, and interesting process. I can elaborate for paragraphs on any drawing you point out of mine, they all have very personal meanings and are abstractions of concepts much deeper than they might appear.
