Lucid Dream Novel

I have an idea, and with some help maybe it could become something more than just an idea. I'm not exactly a skilled writer but maybe someone else could put together a book. If not, I have plenty of free time and I could possibly do this. My idea is this: create a story in which the protagonist is a lucid-dreamer, the book will be about his/her lucid experiences, and his/her growth as a result of the constant interaction with their own subconscious. If I were to write such a book I'd find the dream journal section to be of tremendous help. As I would be able to splice together the many real lucid experiences of our members. However, I recognize that some people wouldn't be comfortable with this. So if you're willing to allow me to use your dream journal please post here. If you'd like to help write this book that would be much appreciated as well.

I've seen this exact thread at least a dozen times before on this website. I think most people have the secret desire to write a novel. Due to Inception I foresee a flood of novels about lucid dreaming. Probably lots of terrible ones too. There are already quite a few out there, I even saw one recently with Inception in the title, and another one that some guy wrote in two weeks. But good luck all the same.

I've been thinking about this too. How long would it be, though, realistically speaking in the sense that regular lucids don't last for even a week? As for your novel, feel free to use my DJ but with credit.

Thanks for the support. I'm not sure as I've never really written a novel. Perhaps a novella would be more appropriate.

Well, you can use anything you want to from my DJ, if that helps any I too have had the desire to write a lucid dream novel, but in the end I concluded my storyline would be better done as a video game (which currently I simply do not have the time and resources for). I touched upon a bit of my novel idea in my short film, but the two stories are most definitely different. So I would love to see someone else write a good lucid dreaming novel! My advice to you is, before you write the book, write a detailed summary of the story. If you feel inspired to put down some exact dialogue, go ahead, but keep it down to as few pages as possible. Oh, and start from the end and work your way back to the beginning. It is always best to begin with figuring out where you want the characters and the storyline to end up, and then decide where they should start from, and then fill in the details that take it all from A to B. And the great thing about a summary is, it's easy to modify things as you come up with more ideas because there isn't as much there to change. For this reason, I'd recommend you wait at least a week after completing the summary before you start to write the actual novel. Who knows what else will come to your mind (particularly in real dreams)? I think if you spend some time figuring things out this way, the actual writing of the book will come easily Hope that helps!

Cool idea. Sorta random but just thought: You could have the lucid dreamer undergo some kind of incident/trauma if you will in waking life and then have his/hers subconscious spew out some speech/poetry that would enlightened him/her in his/her journey. Just an idea, haha. I could probably help with that too.
