Thread: Art Design Team

Members of this team can do any of the following:
[list] work on various projects that members of the other teams request (i.e. perhaps art is needed for a new tutorial, or perhaps the event team needs a graphic to advertise and up & coming event)[*] discuss various projects for the users of the forum (for e.g., a comic book)[*] work on projects for the users[*] discuss possible design improvements to the forum and site[*] work on new art for the forum and site[list]
that's all i can think of for now; if you have an additional idea, let me (or your soon-to-be-announced) team leader know! Please note that only members of the Art Design Team can read posts in this forum; if you need outside opinions, please feel free to solicit them via the other forums on the board.

Also, there will soon be an FTP account for Art Design Team members to use.

Oh, and don't even THINK about making me the team leader. I mean, it'd be cool to be a team leader, but I've got ZERO skills in leading an art team.

THANK YOU...no offense to whoever created it, but I think its quite...um...ok I won't say it in respect to whoever made it. But yeah let's come up with some layouts...maybe something that meshes well with the pics that are on the main site now...b/c I think some of those are pretty cool.

Art Design Team? That sounds like a Team I would like to be part of. How do I become a member? I'd love to.

-The banner could indeed be Relaced by a more inspiring one IMO.
Ive got a couple of suggestion as to what banner to make for DreamViews.
Maybe I can just go and make some sketches, scan and post em and see what you think? I could make the colors, which I do with pastels, sorta Match the rest of the Forum-style.
Maybe in the end someone could photoshop a couple of member's drawings together.

Well if anyone here is good with Photoshop and knows how to "edit" my design so that there's an animated, constantly pulsating light glow in it: I've got a very good Idea.It will make the banner look much darker, cooler and more mysterious than the terribly happy new-age looks of LD4all.

I'll probably do some mock-ups when I get a chance, I'm really strapped for time right now...but I should be able to come up with some stuff over the weekend. Are you guys going to try anything new for the DV banner too? Do we all agree it needs to be changed?

i'm not really sure what everyone means by 'banner'; lomebririon did the logo, but i sort of did the blue squares (i took green squares that a site used as a background, made them blue, then turned them into our header). i'm guessing you're referring to the blue squares.

The logo and the blue squares were what we were talking about changing. Who did the piccies for the front page? They look really good, and we could use them as a theme for the page.

Yeah, the entire top half...the logo, the squares...it kinda screams "cheese" but that's just coming from a designer and I'm trained to be critical of bad design and "seek out and destroy" where ever possible hehe. Actually, I'm just messing around, it's not that bad...I just think it could be alot better and more interesting. I like the idea of incorporating the images from the front page, or rather creating a new one that is similar stylistically, that way the site will look more cohesive...and I just hate bubbly things by the way. I hope I haven't offended anyone.

I could see us doing a new top banner for the forum. Personally, I do like the relative simplicity of the current one, but a new one would be refreshing -- as long as it was tasteful. Nothing too cluttered, but nothing too barren either. The front page? Ya mean like the main page? Yeah, I could see something like that...

Just let me know what I can do! I'm totally into this thing! Lock and load, people! Lock and load!

Yeah, like I said...we should all try to come up with some layouts this weekend and then get everyone on the forum maybe to vote for the one they want? Let's try to get a good variety.

A new skin wouldn't go a miss here either, maybe more dream like, I could start work on a few if you like.

Any colour theme we need to stick to? I'm guessing dreamy colours like blues, greens, hazey reds.

Green is too close to blue...red would be a refreshing new look! (It's my favorite color, too.)

I had stars in mind for some reason, anyway, what would be cool, and what I would do if my friend lets me use her patch, is have ink blot's like the ones shrinks have, but a random one showing upin the background each time the page changes.

I think we've created monsters.

Don't get too ahead of yourself guys, its early days yet. Perhaps let things settle a little.

Yey...to me this is starting to sound frightening. Stars? Ink blots? I actually like the DV skin, that's one of the reasons I prefer this forum to others, it is simple and not cheesy! I think the only thing that needs to be changed is the top banner. We can all try some layouts for the banner...then collectively we should put all the designs up and let the community of DV vote on one...or none, if they feel it doesnt need to be changed. Maybe we should get a poll to find out if they even WANT us changing the banner, otherwise we are wasting our time.

i certainly appreciate the interest! aphius may be right though to take things slowly. keep in mind that you can also work on simple projects just for the users in general or whatever.

as for the site design, keep in mind (as stated on the main site's index page) that this site is not supposed to look like a typical dreaming site. also, i like the forum's style theme (with the grey and blue tables and whatnot) so i'd rather not completely change that right now, but improvements are always welcome. the header can be changed because we've had it for a while and it's nice to introduce change here and there. i'm not sure exactly how you'd go about incorporating the main site's image idea into it...i didn't really know what i was doing when i did those; i just found images i liked, removed all colour and then added a little blue. that's the extent of my abilities right there. as for the logo, i like the one we have, but i'm open to suggestions...lomebririon may even want to counter with his own new idea, however i think i've made him busy enough for now.

first of all: slow down guys. please. I personally think Lome's banner looks great, though, maybe change would be nice. but don't be in such a hurry. I definately don't think we should change the general colour scheme, the greys and soft blues look proffessional and are easy on the eyes. I also think the team leader should be someone that has been here for awhile. I know I (and others) would be more comfortable with that. and whatever this team comes up with will be voted on, right?

alright, the description of the team has been amended to both present you with other options for stuff to do, and also because the original made it sound too much like you were my personal slaves.

I definitely agree that I love the color scheme of the site, the greyes and blues...we shouldn't change that at all! The only thing under consideration is the banner. But there is certainly no hurry...and yes, I think EVERYTHING should be voted on...not just by the art team, but by everyone in the DV community, since any changes made to the site would affect everyone.

EDIT: by the way, I know I haven't been here THAT long, but I wouldn't mind being the team leader, if there isn't one already?

what did the old description say? I don't think I read it.

The forum's style is fine to me. I like the banner at the top too. Don't change the current theme, but if you want to you can add another seperate one to choose from (this one is awesome though). This is one of the only forums I've been to that is A) easy on the eyes and B) easy to navigate. Don't change the default theme though. That is one reason I left LD4all (I couldn't stand being on it for too long becuase of the layout and colors).

PS: I say Aphius or Paperdoll for team leader.
