Scale of 1–5: How realistic was your best LD?

      Hey everyone,

Just wondering: from the best and most realistic LD you've ever had, what position was it on a scale from 1–5 in terms of waking reality?

      1 being very unrealistic
5 being as realistic as waking life

      Thanks!

I put a 4. My dreams may look just like reality, but then I decide to go flying out the window which is extremely unrealistic.

Mine was "quite realistic". I mean, my house and everything looked exactly like it does in real life, but it still felt like there was something missing, like it didn't "feel" as real as it could've been. But I think this was my own fault (me being inexperienced with lucid dreaming) rather than the dream itself.

Well, could you define realistic before I vote? I'd say my 'best' was very vivid, I could use the majority of my senses for most of the dream, and my control was pretty excellent. Everything looked as it should (I was in my house). But it started off with me playing with my dog who has been dead for 3 years, and that's not very realistic. So do you mean just in terms of how realistic the environment/dream characters seemed to be?

Visually, my dreams would be 5's. Considering content into the realism scale, they'd be a 2 or a 3.

I had an LD where I lived out my whole life. I married, had children and get this: I grew old and died.

As I watched people grieve for me at my own funeral, I actually woke up crying.

Dang , that sounds cool! Did it actually feel like you spent a life time in the dream?

Realistic? As soon as I get lucid, reality goes out the window. Why bother with reality? That's for the waking world. My lucids are getting moving further from reality with each one I have.

I only wish there was a "more realistic than reality" because many of my most vivid LDs are mind-blowingly vivid.

The visual input was as real, if not clearer and more vivid, than in reality, as was my action, but I couldn't hold it very long, and the LD quickly moved into surreality quickly, so I picked the middle option.

For me my dreams look very realistic, except for my non lucid ones are in third person. But what happens in them is very strange. Unless you consider fireflies turning into bikini girls normal.

there was no option for more real that right now!!!

My best lucids have been so sharp more real than life.. everything had some crystal clear edge it was perfection.
In very many cases, the visionary quality, the quality of the vision so to say, spills over, into the external world, so that the experiencer, when he opens his eyes, sees the outer world transfigured...

I know exactly what you're talking about. But wouldn't that be less realistic because it varies from reality? Vivid and sharp are not equivalent to realistic.

      Maybe we should define realistic?

      hmm yeah your right..

      well

you could feel emotion without having it expressed to you (doesn't make sense).. everything object/person/thing had its own language in its image.

      man .. can't explain.

just crazy glowing edges but perfect.

My lucid dream was so real that I spent a lot of time feeling things and inspecting things. There was absolutely no difference in sight and texture of our real world. It made me wonder about the world we actually live in.

You know when you jump off something intending to fly and it doesn't work? And then you fall. That feels pretty real to me.

Also jumping out of an airplane while lucid felt intensely real.

      Hahahahaha!
The other night I had a LD in which I was flying/climbing a huge tree for fun. It was easily 200 feet tall. I got to the top and this skinny dude was standing there. He asked my why I wasn't afraid. I'd just been running around on the branches like a monkey.

I said "Look! See!" Then I took a swan dive off of the top of the tree. I was fine until about 10 feet from the ground. Then I wondered if it had been a wise thing to do.

I hit the ground. There was this weird instant while my vision and body morphed, trying to decide what had happened. I could feel my body flowing around. Had I splattered? Did I bounce? Did I turn into a ball? After that weird instant I found myself laying face down in the dirt. I stood up, brushed off, and took a bow.

I had one just last night that was completely like a real world. I was in my room and I knew I was dreaming(not sure how I first noticed) I did the breathe throug the nose RC to confirm. My room was so norma looking and nothing weird was happening and I didn't have any weird thoughts that I did a few RCs to reassure myself. The dream was so realistic though that I couldnt decide what to do. The only wierd thing that happened was when I looked in the mirror my eyes were closed. I would say the realism in this LD was so much that anything that I would have normally done in an LD just woudn't fit. I tried summoning some DCs but couldn't manage. The dream only seemed to last about 2-3 minutes before it was over, so I didn't end up doing anything, but yes, it was as real seeming as anything

/even when I got scared that something scary might happen, nothing did.

haha! thats awesome. whenever i fall from great hights, i hit the ground and just lay there limp for awhile. Then i end up just slowly waking up. Its a cool way to end the dream though!
